Outcome harvesting: Saferworld's approach
Monitoring, evaluation and learning is a core part of the work that humanitarian, development and peacebuilding organisations do. At Saferworld, we are committed to learning from our work so that those most affected by conflict and insecurity experience the biggest changes.
We use ‘outcome harvesting’ to monitor changes in the behaviour of those we seek to influence. Unlike traditional evaluation methods, outcome harvesting doesn’t involve measuring progress towards predetermined outcomes. Instead, it collects evidence of what has been achieved and works backwards to determine whether and how a programme or project contributed to this change.
This brochure introduces our outcome harvesting approach – which we have developed over 12 years – and explains the range of services we offer individuals and organisations to help design their own approach, including workshops, tailored training and bespoke strategic support.
