The Gambia Arms Trade Treaty national assessment report
In June 2024, The Gambia became the 114th state to accede to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), an instrument of international law which came into force in December 2014, and which establishes common standards for the international transfer of conventional weapons.
This national assessment, conducted by Saferworld in partnership with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of The Gambia, identifies the areas where The Gambia is already compliant with the ATT, and suggests ways in which the Gambian Government can address its compliance gaps.
Accompanying this national assessment report is a national action plan (forthcoming), which details the specific steps the Government intends to take to ensure full compliance with its obligations under the ATT.
