Saferworld in Kenya
Kenya is a multi-ethnic country that experiences several types of overlapping conflict, including cycles of election-related violence, sexual and gender-based violence, conflict between communities over resources, and violence associated with law enforcement. Kenya’s move from a central to a devolved system of government in 2010 also created new challenges – with some groups remaining marginalised from political processes.
Saferworld has been working in Kenya since 2000. We work with a range of civil society and government partners to transform policies and practices so that they support peace and security. In all our work we prioritise accountability, inclusion and participation, especially of women and girls.
