Feminist movements and women’s rights organisations (WROs) are at the forefront of advancing the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda. However, they continue to face structural barriers, such as limited access to funding, shrinking civic spaces and gender backlash.
Join us for this learning exchange to reflect on the role of WROs in promoting peace and gender equality in conflict contexts. We will also explore what it means to localise the WPS agenda in practice; how we can best collaborate with local women peace builders and groups to ensure they lead on their self-identified priorities; and if donors and decision-makers are aligned with this approach.
Speakers:
Afraa Khaled Al-Hariri, human rights expert and country director of the Peace Track Initiative Foundation, Yemen.
Elizabeth George, Executive Director Child is Gold Foundation, Nigeria.
Dr. Mariam KadiriEzolome, Global Women for Quality and Sustainable Development Initiative (GWSD), Nigeria.
Grace Dorong, Director of Root of Generations, South Sudan.
