Saferworld USA welcomes new board member Tabatha Pilgrim Thompson
20 June 2024
We are thrilled to announce the addition of Tabatha Pilgrim Thompson to Saferworld USA’s Board of Directors. Tabatha’s extensive background in community organising, leadership development and facilitating dialogues to bridge domestic divides makes her a great fit for our mission to promote a safer, more peaceful world.
Tabatha is currently the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives at The Horizons Project. In this role, she builds strong relationships among activists, peacebuilders, democracy advocates, organisers, donors, academics and policymakers, all working towards a just and peaceful democracy in the US.
Tabatha’s experience aligns with Saferworld USA’s mission to address the root causes of conflict and build lasting peace. At the United States Institute of Peace, she worked with community activists and peacebuilders as the Acting Director and Senior Program Officer for the Institute’s Program on Nonviolent Action. She also helped donor organisations, including the US government, UN agencies and foundations, understand how to effectively support social movements by sharing lessons and exploring the power dynamics between communities and donors.
"Tabatha’s experience working at the nexus of social movements and peacebuilding, both internationally and in the US, comes at a critical time for Saferworld USA as we look toward developing our next three-year strategy. I am so excited that she’s joined our Board," said Jason Calder, Director of Saferworld USA.
Tabatha holds a Master of International Affairs, Human Rights and Humanitarian Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
