Flexible funding in Yemen and Sudan:A discussion on working in partnership with civil society organisations in Yemen and Sudan

The aid system is currently leaving civil society organisations exposed to both external pressures and demands (often not aligned with their priorities) and internal and collective resource limitations.

In the second of our partnerships podcast series, Saferworld’s Nawar Kataranji speaks with Muthar al-Shamiri from Assistance for Response & Development (ARD) from Yemen, and Mohamed Ibrahim and Hassan al-Badawi from Shimoos Organization‎ (SOSD) from Sudan. In both Sudan and Yemen, ongoing conflict and political instability, and difficulties accessing funding that is both flexible and responsive to their evolving needs, means civil society organisations are facing huge challenges.

Muthar, Mohamed and Hassan discuss what solidarity means in practice, how flexible funding is helping their organisations to address the challenges they face, and the potential risks to flexible funding models.
